What this scheme offers
Launched ahead of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections and delivered through JEEViKA — Bihar's rural self-help-group network of over 1.4 crore 'Jeevika Didis' — this scheme put ₹10,000 directly into the bank accounts of 75 lakh women in its first phase alone, with a further 25 lakh added shortly after, all via DBT with no intermediary. That initial amount is a starting point rather than the ceiling: women who go on to run a successful self-employment venture or small business become eligible for additional support of up to ₹2 lakh in later phases.
Who is eligible
- Woman resident of Bihar, enrolled through the JEEViKA self-help-group network (or eligible to enrol).
- One woman per family typically eligible for the initial grant.
- For the additional ₹2 lakh phase: demonstrated, functioning self-employment activity or small business.
Documents required
- Aadhaar card
- Bank account details (Aadhaar-linked)
- JEEViKA/SHG membership details, where applicable
- Business activity proof, for the later-phase additional support
