What this scheme offers
A general-purpose monthly pension of ₹1,000 for Jharkhand's elderly, widowed and disabled residents from BPL families — smaller than Maiya Samman Yojana's ₹2,500, a gap that women's rights organisations have publicly pushed the government to close, arguing that pensioners face the same rising living costs as any other resident. Payment delays have also been a real, reported problem — opposition leaders have raised cases of pensioners going five to six months without receiving dues — so if a payment seems overdue, that's a documented pattern worth following up on rather than assuming an error on your end.
