File No. SS-KL-WMC-001 · Kerala State Scheme · Kerala Social Security Mission, Government of Kerala

Snehapoorvam

Financial assistance for children in Kerala who have lost one or both parents and belong to a BPL family, running since 2005 under the Department of Social Justice and now administered through the Kerala Social Security Mission — support meant to keep a child in school and cared for rather than becoming an additional financial burden on whoever is raising them.

What this scheme offers

Losing a parent is hard enough for a child without it also becoming a financial crisis for whoever takes over raising them. Snehapoorvam ('with love'), running since 2005 under the Department of Social Justice and now administered through the Kerala Social Security Mission, gives BPL children in Kerala who've lost one or both parents ongoing financial support — aimed at keeping the child in school and properly cared for rather than the loss becoming an additional economic burden on relatives or guardians.
