What this scheme offers
Unwed mothers in Kerala often fall through the gaps of welfare schemes built around more conventional family structures — not quite a widow, not quite destitute in the way other pension categories define it, but frequently facing real financial precarity while raising a child alone. Snehasparsham ('touch of love') is a small but specifically targeted scheme: ₹1,000 a month for unwed mothers under 65 who aren't already covered by another government pension, currently reaching just over 1,000 women statewide.
