Nanaji Deshmukh Krishi Sanjivani Yojana (POCRA)

A climate-resilient agriculture project covering drought-prone parts of Maharashtra, subsidising 75–100% of the cost of drip and sprinkler irrigation, fruit orchard plantation, soil health improvement, and water conservation — more than 25 distinct interventions aimed at making farming viable through increasingly erratic rainfall.

What this scheme offers

POCRA targets Maharashtra's most drought-vulnerable farming regions with a straightforward bet: if you make farming resilient to erratic rainfall, farmers stay on the land instead of falling deeper into debt. It's less a single benefit and more a menu of over 25 interventions, each subsidised between 75% and 100% depending on the item — drip and sprinkler irrigation to use water more efficiently, fruit orchard plantation to diversify away from water-hungry crops, soil health improvement, farm ponds, and other water-conservation infrastructure. Farmers select which interventions actually fit their land rather than being pushed through a single fixed package.

Who is eligible

  • Farmer in one of the project's covered drought-prone talukas/villages in Maharashtra (project coverage is geographically targeted, not statewide — confirm your village is covered).
  • Willingness to co-contribute the remaining 0–25% of the intervention cost, depending on the specific component.
  • Valid land records for the plot where the intervention will be implemented.

Documents required

  • Aadhaar card
  • Land records (7/12 extract)
  • Bank account details
  • Village/taluka coverage confirmation (via POCRA portal)

How to apply

  1. Check whether your village falls under a POCRA-covered taluka at dpmu.mahapocra.gov.in.
  2. If covered, register on the POCRA portal and select the interventions relevant to your farm (irrigation, orchard, soil health, water conservation, etc.).
  3. Submit land records and required documents for the chosen intervention(s).
  4. A technical team verifies feasibility before approval.
  5. On approval, subsidy is disbursed — either as direct cost coverage through empanelled vendors, or as reimbursement, depending on the specific component.
