Bana Kaih (Handholding) Scheme

Mizoram's flagship economic scheme, providing loans and assured-price crop procurement to support farmers' livelihoods, entrepreneurship and self-employment — described by CM Lalduhoma as his ZPM government's most important initiative for transforming the state's economy. Running since September 2024, the 2026-27 budget allocated ₹350 crore to the scheme, with ₹150 crore specifically earmarked for procuring designated key crops at assured prices, alongside a companion ₹20 crore Venture Capital Fund for young entrepreneurs.

What this scheme offers

'Bana Kaih' means 'handholding' in Mizo, and CM Lalduhoma has described it as his ZPM government's single most important initiative for transforming the state's economy — not a narrow subsidy programme but a broad push spanning farm loans, assured-price procurement for designated key crops, and support for entrepreneurship and self-employment more generally. Running since September 2024, the scheme received ₹350 crore in the 2026-27 budget, with ₹150 crore of that specifically set aside for crop procurement at guaranteed prices, and a companion ₹20 crore Venture Capital Fund for young entrepreneurs launched alongside it. CM Lalduhoma has pointed to the assured-price promise as a commitment his government has actually delivered on, not merely announced.
