What this scheme offers
Caring for a family member with a severe intellectual disability often means one parent or relative can't hold a regular job, on top of the direct costs of healthcare, therapy and daily support — a double financial hit that a small pension does little to offset. Tripura's Cabinet recognised that gap explicitly in 2025, raising the monthly pension for residents with over 60% intellectual disability from ₹2,000 to ₹5,000 — a two-and-a-half-times increase aimed at genuinely covering daily living expenses, healthcare and other necessities rather than offering only token support.
