What this scheme offers
Launched in 2018, this scheme solves two problems with one subsidy: villages far from a block headquarters often have poor public transport, and unemployed rural youth from SC, ST and EBC communities often lack the capital to start a business. Each Gram Panchayat gets five subsidised slots — three for SC/ST applicants, two for EBC — for a 50% subsidy (capped at ₹1 lakh) toward a new 3- or 4-wheeler commercial vehicle. Selection runs in phases (the programme has now run through ten-plus rounds) via a computerised merit list based on qualification and age, with applications opening and closing per phase rather than being permanently available.

- A Panchayat-level selection committee reviews applications and prepares a merit list based on qualification and age.
- Selected candidates purchase the approved vehicle from an empanelled dealer.
- The 50% subsidy (up to ₹1 lakh) is applied against the vehicle's cost — check current phase status on the portal, as applications open in rounds rather than continuously.
