Mukhyamantri Vridhjan Pension Yojana (MVPY)

A universal old-age pension for every Bihar resident aged 60 and above, regardless of income group, raised to ₹1,100 a month in July 2025 and paid on the 10th of every month directly to the beneficiary's bank account.

What this scheme offers

Most state old-age pensions restrict eligibility to BPL households, which leaves out elderly residents who are poor but not officially classified as such. MVPY takes the simpler route: any Bihar resident aged 60 or above who isn't already drawing a government pension qualifies, regardless of income. The amount has moved with inflation too — raised from ₹400/₹500 (split by 60–79 and 80+ age bands) to a flat ₹1,100 a month for everyone 60 and above, effective July 2025, paid via DBT on the 10th of every month through the SSPMIS portal.

  • Not currently receiving any other government pension (central or state).
  • Valid Aadhaar-linked bank account.
