What this scheme offers
The e-Shram Card is a 12-digit Universal Account Number (UAN) that builds India's first National Database of Unorganised Workers (NDUW) — covering construction workers, domestic help, street vendors, drivers, gig and platform workers, farm labour and more. Registration is free and gives you a lifetime ID (no renewal needed), linkage to ₹2 lakh accidental death insurance (and ₹1 lakh for partial disability) under PMSBY, and priority access to worker welfare schemes and emergency relief transfers. The government also uses this database to identify unorganised workers for cash transfers during crises. Note: the card itself doesn't pay any automatic monthly amount — benefits flow through specific linked schemes like PM-SYM pension, which you enrol in separately.

- Must NOT be a member of EPFO, ESIC, or receiving an NPS government contribution.
- Must NOT be an income-tax payer.
