National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal & 1930 Helpline

Free, 24x7 reporting for cybercrime and financial fraud — and for money lost to fraud, calling immediately can trigger an emergency hold before stolen funds move further.

What this scheme offers

The 1930 helpline and the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP, at cybercrime.gov.in) work together as India's central system for reporting cybercrime — UPI and banking fraud, OTP scams, phishing, fake customer-care calls, investment scams, online shopping fraud, sextortion, identity theft, and other digital offences, with particular focus on crimes against women and children. When you call 1930 immediately after discovering unauthorised financial activity, your transaction details are entered into the Citizen Financial Cyber Fraud Reporting and Management System (CFCFRMS), which alerts the relevant banks or wallets to place a hold on the specific amount involved — this doesn't freeze the fraudster's whole account, but it can stop your specific stolen funds from being withdrawn further while investigation proceeds. As of mid-2026, over ₹11,158 crore has been placed on hold across 32.80+ lakh complaints through this system since 2021 — though a fund being "saved" (on hold) isn't the same as it being refunded to you; that still requires the full verification and legal process.

Who can use it

  • Any resident of India who is a victim of cybercrime or online financial fraud — no eligibility restrictions.
  • Filing a complaint is completely free, on both the portal and the helpline.
  • Under the 2026 SOP, a representative can file on behalf of a victim, provided identity is verified through the system.

What to have ready before you call or file

  • Your identity and mobile number
  • The exact amount and time of the fraudulent transaction
  • The bank, wallet, or payment app involved
  • Transaction ID or UTR number, if available
  • Beneficiary account details, if known
  • A brief, one-sentence description of how the fraud happened (fake support call, phishing link, QR code, UPI collect request, etc.)

How to report

  1. If money was just lost (financial fraud): Call 1930 immediately — speed matters, since fund-hold requests are time-sensitive. State your identity, the transaction details, and how the fraud happened clearly and briefly.
  2. Ask the operator to repeat your acknowledgement number (a 14-digit number starting with "3," sent via SMS) — you'll need it to complete your report.
  3. Go to cybercrime.gov.in — only this exact URL, since fake lookalike sites exist — and complete the full complaint using your acknowledgement number within the notified timeframe.
  4. Separately, notify your bank in writing to formally dispute the transaction and request any recall or chargeback process.
  5. For non-financial cybercrime (harassment, identity theft, hacking, fake accounts): file directly on the NCRP portal under "Report Other Cyber Crime" — no need to call 1930 first.
  6. Track your complaint status by logging in to cybercrime.gov.in with the mobile number used when reporting.
