What this scheme offers
PM YASASVI supports students from Other Backward Classes (OBC), Economically Backward Classes (EBC), and Denotified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes (DNT) at two stages: pre-matric (Class 9-10) and post-matric (Class 11-12, extending into undergraduate study for the college-level variant, "PM YASASVI Top Class Education in College"). Students in Class 9-10 receive up to ₹75,000 a year; those in Class 11-12 and beyond receive up to ₹1,25,000 a year, covering tuition fees, hostel fees, and any other fees the institution mandates. Funds are disbursed via Direct Benefit Transfer straight into the student's Aadhaar-linked bank account. Selection has historically used the YASASVI Entrance Test (YET), conducted by the National Testing Agency — though some recent guidance suggests YET may have been discontinued for 2026-27 in favour of merit based on previous-class marks (a minimum of 60%). Given this conflicting signal in current sources, confirm the exact selection method for your application year directly on the official portal before assuming either process applies.
