What this scheme offers
A widow's own pension is calculated as if she were the only person that support needs to cover, but a widow raising children carries costs a single ₹1,000 payment was never designed to fully absorb. Chandigarh runs a separate, dedicated payment for exactly this situation — financial assistance for the dependent children of widow women — recognising that a family supporting kids needs more than what an individual pension provides, without folding everything into one payment that would obscure how much is actually reaching the children specifically.
