What this scheme offers
A genuinely rare thing in Indian state politics: a welfare scheme that survived a change of ruling party without controversy. Bijli Bill Half Yojana, giving domestic consumers a 50% reduction on their electricity bill for consumption up to 400 units a month, was launched under the Congress government — and when CM Vishnu Deo Sai's BJP administration reviewed Congress-era programmes after taking office, this was one it explicitly chose to keep running, in contrast to other schemes from the same period that were left under review or quietly discontinued.
Who is eligible
- Domestic electricity connection in Chhattisgarh.
- Monthly consumption up to 400 units for the 50% discount.
- Connection registered with CSPDCL.
Documents required
- Electricity connection details (account number)
- Aadhaar card, where required for verification
How to apply
- No separate application in most cases — the benefit is applied automatically to eligible domestic connections billed by CSPDCL.
- Check your monthly bill to confirm the 50% reduction has been applied for consumption within 400 units.
- Contact your local CSPDCL office if your bill doesn't reflect the expected discount despite qualifying usage.
- Ensure your connection details are current with CSPDCL to avoid billing discrepancies.
