Mukhyamantri Haat Bazaar Clinic Yojana (Chhattisgarh)

Free check-ups, tests and medicines from mobile medical teams at weekly haat bazaars in remote tribal and forest areas of Chhattisgarh, with no documents needed — running statewide since 2 October 2019.

What this scheme offers

In remote parts of Chhattisgarh the nearest clinic can be a day's journey away, so the Haat Bazaar Clinic Yojana takes the doctor to the weekly market where people already gather. A mobile medical team — doctor, paramedical staff and medicines — sets up at the haat on its fixed day and offers free consultation, tests and treatment. The tests include haemoglobin, blood sugar, blood pressure, malaria, dengue, HIV and VDRL, about 64 types of medicines are handed out free, and there is a private room for women and referral for serious cases. The scheme began as a Bastar pilot on 9 June 2019, went statewide on 2 October 2019, and continues under the present government. No documents or registration are needed.

Who is eligible

  • Open to anyone who visits a haat bazaar clinic — no registration, card or identity document is required.
  • Meant mainly for people in remote tribal, forest and rural areas.
  • Services: free consultation, tests, treatment of common and seasonal illnesses, and free medicines.
  • Serious cases are referred to a larger health centre.

Documents required

  • No documents are required to use the clinic.
  • Carry any earlier prescription or health records you have, to help the doctor.
  • Keep your Ayushman card if you have one, in case a referral is needed.

How to apply

  1. Find the day your local haat bazaar is held — each haat has a fixed weekly day for the medical team.
  2. Visit the Haat Bazaar Clinic stall at the market during clinic hours.
  3. Meet the doctor for a free check-up and get the tests the doctor advises done on the spot.
  4. Collect the free medicines prescribed.
  5. If you need further care, the team refers you to a larger health centre; ask the team about the referral.
