What this scheme offers
Delhi's BJP government approved a ₹2,500-a-month scheme for women on 8 March 2025 — International Women's Day — but actually getting money into accounts took well over a year while the eligibility rules and application portal were worked out. The scheme was renamed from Mahila Samriddhi Yojana to Delhi Lakshmi Yojana on 13 July 2026, and the first payments reached beneficiary accounts from 1 September 2026. It's specifically targeted at widowed, divorced, separated or abandoned women, and replaces an AAP-era 'Mahila Samman Yojana' proposal from the 2025 election that was announced but never actually implemented before the government changed.
