What this scheme offers
For a lot of traditional trades — tailoring, carpentry, plumbing, cobbling, beauty services — the person already has the skill, often learned from family or apprenticeship, and the actual barrier to earning from it is simply not owning the basic tools of the trade. Manav Garima Yojana gives SC families in Gujarat a free toolkit worth ₹4,000 to start exactly that kind of self-employment, treating equipment cost as the real obstacle rather than assuming skill training is what's missing.
Who is eligible
- Belongs to Scheduled Caste (SC) category.
- Permanent resident of Gujarat.
- Age 18 to 60 years (confirm current band on the portal).
- Family income within the limit prescribed by the scheme.
- Has the relevant skill for the chosen trade (tailoring, carpentry, plumbing, etc.).

- Aadhaar card
- Income certificate
- Proof of relevant trade skill, where required
- Bank account details
How to apply
- Apply online through the e-Samaj Kalyan portal (e-samajkalyan.gujarat.gov.in).
- Select the trade/toolkit category matching your skill.
- Submit caste certificate, income proof and identity documents.
- Applications are verified at the district Social Welfare office.
- On approval, the toolkit is provided directly or the equivalent amount credited for purchase, depending on the current implementation.
