What this scheme offers
Losing both parents leaves a child without the person who'd normally cover school fees, doctor visits, and everyday nutrition — costs that don't pause just because a caregiver has changed. J&K's response is a direct monthly stipend of ₹4,000 to ₹6,000, credited into the child's own account rather than routed through an intermediary, specifically earmarked to support education, healthcare and nutrition. It was announced in the 2026-27 budget alongside related education support for AAY families — a full waiver of secondary-school expenses and college fee waivers for AAY students not already covered by another scholarship — reflecting a broader budget focus on removing cost as a barrier to schooling for the most vulnerable children.
