What this scheme offers
The central National Food Security Act sets its own eligibility rules for subsidised ration, and inevitably some genuinely needy households in Jharkhand fall just outside them. The state's own Khadya Suraksha Yojana exists to catch that gap: 5 kg of subsidised food grain a month for an additional 15 lakh households beyond NFSA's existing coverage, funded and administered entirely by the state.
