What this scheme offers
The Savitribai Phule Kishori Samriddhi Yojana, notified in 2022 in place of the Mukhyamantri Sukanya Yojana, pays Jharkhand girls a total of ₹40,000 for staying in school. The money comes in six instalments by direct bank transfer: ₹2,500 on enrolment in Class 8, ₹2,500 in Class 9, ₹5,000 each in Classes 10, 11 and 12, and a final one-time grant of ₹20,000 when she turns 18. It is fully funded by the state, and every daughter in a family can qualify — the old limit of the first two daughters has been dropped. The girl needs a bank account in her own name, and the grant at 18 needs a voter ID card. Girls who drop out of school lose the remaining school-stage instalments.
Who is eligible
- A girl who is a permanent resident of Jharkhand, studying in Classes 8 to 12 in a government, aided or recognised school.
- A bank account in her own name.
- Family condition: recent guides say parents must not pay income tax, while older rules referred to SECC or Antyodaya households — confirm which applies.
- For the ₹20,000 at 18, an EPIC voter ID card; there is no limit on the number of daughters.
