What this scheme offers
LIFE stands for Livelihood, Inclusion and Financial Empowerment, and the mission's ambition goes beyond just building houses — it aims to make sure a homeless or landless family in Kerala gets a genuinely liveable house and a pathway to sustainable income, not just four walls. Families who already own land but can't afford to build get a construction grant scaled by circumstance: ₹3.5 lakh for general category, ₹4 lakh for SC and fishermen families (who often face higher construction costs or more urgent housing need), and the actual cost covered for ST families. Landless families are handled differently — rather than a cash grant they can't act on, the mission builds and hands over completed flats directly.
