What this scheme offers
Old age, widowhood or a significant disability can each leave a Ladakh resident without steady income, and this pension addresses all three under one consistent ₹1,500-a-month structure — administered jointly by both Hill Councils, LAHDC Leh and LAHDC Kargil, so residents of either district access it through the same benefit even though the two councils otherwise run largely independent administrations. Launched in 2020, it runs alongside the central IGNOAPS scheme rather than replacing it, and currently reaches around 30,000 beneficiaries with an annual family income cap of ₹72,000.
