What this scheme offers
Old age, widowhood, abandonment or a disability can each leave a resident of Lakshadweep without steady income, and the UTL State Pension Scheme covers all four situations under one programme: ₹1,500 a month, administered by the Department of Social Welfare and Tribal Affairs. As of May 2025, around 3,481 beneficiaries were receiving the pension across the islands' inhabited atolls — a genuinely meaningful share of a UT with a total population in the tens of thousands.
