What this scheme offers

The Chief Minister's Disability Pension Scheme, 2012 gives social security to persons with disabilities in Meghalaya through a monthly pension of ₹500 per beneficiary. It is run by the office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities in Shillong. The applicant must be between 18 and 59 years old, live in Meghalaya and hold a disability certificate from a competent authority; those who already receive an unemployment allowance from the Social Welfare Department are not eligible. Application forms come from the District Social Welfare Officer or the Child Development Project Officer, and an eligible applicant gets a Pension Card that must be shown for every payment, which is made through a post office or a bank account. The pension stops on the death of the pensioner.
