FOCUS+ Scheme

₹5,000 in direct financial assistance to every household across Meghalaya, launched by CM Conrad Sangma on 28 July 2022 as an expansion of his earlier FOCUS initiative — a genuinely universal cash benefit rather than one targeted narrowly at a specific income bracket or occupation, reaching families regardless of what other schemes they might already be covered under.

What this scheme offers

Most welfare schemes narrow their eligibility to a specific income bracket, occupation, or life stage, which inevitably leaves some genuinely struggling households just outside the line. FOCUS+ takes a different approach: ₹5,000 in direct financial assistance to every household in Meghalaya, launched by CM Conrad Sangma on 28 July 2022 as an expansion of his earlier FOCUS initiative — reach here matters as much as the amount, since a universal design means no family has to prove they're poor enough or fit a narrow category to qualify.

Who is eligible

  • Household resident in Meghalaya.
  • Registered as per the scheme's household verification process (often linked to the Family Identity Card system).

Documents required

  • Aadhaar card
  • Family Identity Card, where issued
  • Residential proof (Meghalaya domicile)
  • Bank account details

How to apply

  1. Check your household's registration status through your local Block Development Office or Village Employment Council.
  2. If not yet registered, provide Aadhaar and residential proof to be added to the household verification list.
  3. Once verified, the ₹5,000 is credited via DBT to the household's bank account.
  4. Contact your local administrative office if your household hasn't received the benefit despite meeting the residency criteria.
