Mizoram State Special Ration Package

A state-funded ration package supplementing central food-security coverage for around 29,000 families in Mizoram, part of the government's broader food-security push that also includes stocking over 1.67 lakh quintals of rice as a monsoon reserve for 2026-27 — a state that, given its terrain and connectivity challenges, treats stockpiling and direct household ration support as complementary rather than either alone being sufficient.

What this scheme offers

Central food-security coverage doesn't reach every household that genuinely needs support, and Mizoram's terrain and connectivity challenges make the gap more consequential than it might be elsewhere — a supply disruption can mean weeks, not days, before a remote area is resupplied. The State Special Ration Package is a state-funded supplement reaching around 29,000 families, running alongside a substantial monsoon reserve — over 1.67 lakh quintals of rice stocked for 2026-27 — that treats stockpiling and direct household support as two parts of the same food-security strategy rather than either being sufficient alone.
