What this scheme offers
Announced in the Odisha 2026-27 state budget, this scheme is built as a long-term savings instrument for girl children rather than an immediate cash handout — ₹20,000 deposited at birth, growing over the years until it matures into a payout of up to ₹1,01,001 when the girl completes her education. It sits alongside Subhadra Yojana as a second major women-and-girls initiative from the current government, but targets a different life stage: Subhadra supports adult women now, while Kanya Sumangal is meant to build toward a milestone payout years later. As of this writing the detailed Standard Operating Procedure hadn't been published, so treat the eligibility and process details here as provisional.
