What this scheme offers
Post-matric education — anything from Class 11 through a PhD — carries genuinely higher costs than school education, and for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe students in Puducherry, this scholarship is designed to remove both halves of that cost: the tuition fee itself is fully reimbursed, and a monthly maintenance allowance of ₹500 to ₹1,000 covers the ongoing living costs of staying in education. Applied for through the National Scholarships Portal and implemented by the Social Welfare Department, it reaches around 10,000 students a year across the UT.
