What this scheme offers
Unlike the coastal fishing communities of Andhra Pradesh or Tamil Nadu, Telangana's fishermen work inland — the state's many reservoirs, tanks and lakes rather than the sea — which means their risks and income patterns look genuinely different from a seasonal marine fishing ban. Matsyakara Bharosa gives Telangana's fishing community ₹10,000 a year in investment support, plus free group accident insurance, recognising inland fishing as its own distinct occupation rather than treating it as a smaller version of coastal fishing.
