UP Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana (Shehri)

State top-up on PM Awas Yojana Urban 2.0 for slum dwellers, street vendors and the urban poor in UP cities.

What this scheme offers

This is UP's own top-up layered onto PM Awas Yojana Urban 2.0, aimed specifically at slum dwellers, street vendors and the urban poor who need help beyond what the central interest subsidy alone provides. EWS households can receive an interest subsidy of up to ₹2.67 lakh on a home loan, plus a construction grant, to build or buy a pucca house in a UP city. Because it rides on top of the central scheme rather than replacing it, applying correctly means going through the PMAY-U 2.0 process first — this state top-up is applied on eligible cases, not as a separate parallel scheme with its own independent application.

Who is eligible

  • Economically Weaker Section (EWS) or Low Income Group (LIG) household, as defined by income criteria under PMAY-U 2.0.
  • Must not currently own a pucca house anywhere in India.
  • Resident of an urban area in Uttar Pradesh.
  • Priority given to slum dwellers and street vendors.
  • Applying as, or with, a woman owner/co-owner is favoured under the scheme's scoring.

Documents required

  • Aadhaar card
  • Income certificate
  • 'No pucca house' self-declaration
  • Address proof
  • Bank account details
  • Property/plot documents, where applicable

How to apply

  1. Apply through the PMAY-U 2.0 process — via your local municipal body (Nagar Nigam/Nagar Palika) or the PMAY-U portal.
  2. Submit income, identity and 'no existing pucca house' documents for EWS/LIG category verification.
  3. Field verification is carried out to confirm your housing status and income category.
  4. Once approved, the interest subsidy is applied to your home loan and/or the construction grant is released in stages.
  5. Track your application status at your municipal office using your application ID.
