What this scheme offers
A newborn's first days involve genuine, immediate needs — basic hygiene and health supplies for both mother and baby — and for families welcoming a daughter, Uttarakhand adds a deliberate note of celebration to meeting them. The Mahalaxmi Kit is given after the institutional delivery of a family's first two girl children, to mothers registered at an Anganwadi Centre, and is distributed offline at the same centre where she registered. It's a revised version of the earlier Soubhagyawati Yojana from the Trivendra Singh Rawat government, relaunched under CM Dhami specifically to keep the girl-child support intact and visible.
