What this scheme offers
Revamped in 2016 into a single unified online portal, SVMCM is West Bengal's flagship merit-based scholarship — open to students of any community, not restricted by caste or religion, which sets it apart from most of the state's other education schemes. It follows students from Higher Secondary all the way through to a PhD, with the monthly amount increasing at each stage (₹1,000/month at the HS and undergraduate level, rising toward ₹8,000/month for doctoral study), and the marks threshold easing slightly for Kanyashree beneficiaries moving into postgraduate study.
