Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Vidyarthi Mitra Kit (Andhra Pradesh)

A free school kit — three sets of uniform cloth, shoes, socks, belt, bag, textbooks and notebooks — for about 36 lakh students in Classes 1 to 10 of Andhra Pradesh's government and aided schools, the renamed Jagananna Vidya Kanuka.

What this scheme offers

The Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Vidyarthi Mitra kit is a free kit for every student of Classes 1 to 10 in Andhra Pradesh's government-managed and aided schools. It replaced the earlier Jagananna Vidya Kanuka and was first distributed in 2025-26. Each child receives three sets of uniform cloth (olive green, with light yellow-green striped shirts), a pair of shoes, two pairs of socks, a belt, a school bag, textbooks, workbooks and notebooks; Class 6 gets an Oxford English-English-Telugu dictionary, Class 1 a pictorial dictionary, and dictionaries in Urdu, Tamil or Odia are given where needed. About 35.94 lakh students are covered at a cost of ₹953.71 crore, of which ₹778.68 crore is from the state and ₹175.03 crore from the Centre, and the government also pays the uniform stitching charges (₹120 for Classes 1–8 and ₹240 for Classes 9–10). Items are checked at mandal 'quality walls' and handed out through schools, so parents do not apply.

Who is eligible

  • A student of Classes 1 to 10 in a government-managed or government-aided school in Andhra Pradesh.
  • No income, category or application requirement — enrolment in the school is enough.
  • The kit is given once an academic year, at the start of the session.
  • Class 6 students get an Oxford dictionary and Class 1 students a pictorial dictionary.

Documents required

  • Enrolment in a government or aided school in Classes 1 to 10 is the only requirement.
  • No separate form, certificate or card is needed from parents.
  • Parents who find items missing or poor in quality should tell the headmaster.

How to apply

  1. Make sure your child is enrolled in a government or aided school for the new academic year.
  2. The department sends the kit items to mandal stock points, where they are tested and displayed.
  3. The school distributes the kit — uniform cloth, shoes, bag, belt, socks and books — to each student.
  4. Get the uniform stitched; the government pays the stitching charges.
  5. Report missing or defective items to the headmaster or the Mandal Education Officer.
