Orunodoi Scheme — 3.0

₹1,250 a month (₹1,500 with the LPG add-on) for eligible low-income Assam households — credited to the woman member's bank account, now in its third and largest version.

What this scheme offers

Orunodoi has grown through three versions since its October 2020 launch: 1.0 started at ₹830/month for around 17 lakh households; 2.0 raised this to ₹1,000/month in December 2022; and 3.0, launched 7 October 2025, brought it to ₹1,250/month while more than doubling coverage to 38-40 lakh households — over ₹410 crore is now distributed every month. Payment goes to the woman member of the household, reinforcing her role in family financial decisions, and an LPG cylinder add-on brings the total to ₹1,500/month for eligible households. Beneficiaries also received a free book in 2025 as part of Assam's "Year of Books" initiative.

Who is eligible

  • A household is disqualified if any member is a government employee, an income-tax payer, owns 15+ bighas of land, owns a four-wheeler, a refrigerator, or a tractor, or draws another state pension above ₹1,000/month.
  • The scheme is integrated with the ration card system for verification.

  • Aadhaar card of the applicant and relevant household members — must be bank-seeded before applying
  • Active savings bank passbook in the beneficiary woman's name
  • Ration card, where available
  • Electricity bill or land document, as localised proof (optional but helpful)

How to apply

  1. Orunodoi runs on an offline-only application system, despite some claims of online applications — collect the physical form from your Gram Panchayat office (rural areas) or Urban Local Body/Ward office (urban areas).
  2. Fill in the form completely and attach your Aadhaar, bank passbook, and other required documents.
  3. Submit the completed form at the same Panchayat/ULB office.
  4. Collect an acknowledgment slip and keep it safe — there is no full online tracking beyond checking the published beneficiary list.
  5. Ensure your Aadhaar is bank-seeded before applying, since this is required for the DBT payment to go through.
  6. Check the beneficiary list published by your local office, or on orunodoi.assam.gov.in, to confirm your inclusion.
