What this scheme offers
Bihar runs two separate crop-support mechanisms side by side, and it matters which one applies to your situation. Fasal Sahayata Yojana pays out every season based on assessed yield loss, no premium, no disaster declaration needed. Krishi Input Anudan is different: it switches on only when a specific calamity — most often flooding from the Ganga or Kosi, but also hailstorm or unseasonal rain — damages 33% or more of a farmer's crop in a notified district. Once your Panchayat is on the notified list for a given month's damage, both Raiyat and non-Raiyat farmers can claim per-hectare compensation, paid directly via DBT with no intermediary.
Who is eligible
- Farmer (Raiyat or non-Raiyat) in a Bihar district/Panchayat notified for crop damage from a specific calamity.
- Crop loss assessed at 33% or more.
- 13-digit farmer registration number from the Agriculture Department's DBT portal.
- Aadhaar-linked bank account (compensation cannot be paid without this).
Documents required
- Aadhaar card
- 13-digit farmer registration number
- Land records (for Raiyat) or tenancy proof (for non-Raiyat)
- Bank account details (Aadhaar-linked)
How to apply
- Check whether your Panchayat is on the current 'Notified Panchayat List' at dbtagriculture.bihar.gov.in — this is calamity-specific and updated monthly.
- If notified, register (or use your existing farmer registration number) and submit your land/tenancy and crop damage details.
- Applications open monthly for the preceding month's damage — for example, October damage is typically claimable through late November/early December.
- The government assesses damage extent for the area; individual on-site inspection isn't always required if area-level assessment applies.
- Compensation is credited via DBT once approved — ensure your Aadhaar-bank linkage is active, as this is the most common reason for delayed or missed payment.
