What this scheme offers
Laxmibai Samajik Suraksha Pension Yojana is Bihar's own widow pension. Unlike the central widow pension, which waits until age 40 and is limited to BPL households, it covers any widow aged 18 or above whose annual family income is below ₹60,000. Since July 2025 it pays ₹1,100 a month, up from ₹400, and the same rate now applies to Bihar's old-age and disability pensions; around 97 lakh people across the three schemes were paid in a recent round. It is run by the Social Welfare Department through its SAKSHAM society. One rule catches many beneficiaries out: payments depend on completing Aadhaar-based e-KYC, and the money can stop if it is not done.
Who is eligible
- A widow aged 18 years or above and a resident of Bihar.

How to apply
- Apply on the SSPMIS portal (sspmis.bihar.gov.in), at the block RTPS counter, or through a Common Service Centre.

- The application is verified at block level and approved by the Social Welfare Department.
- Once approved, ₹1,100 is paid every month through the e-Labharthi payment system (elabharthi.bih.nic.in).
