Bihar Student Credit Card Yojana

An education loan up to ₹4 lakh, at just 0-1% interest and with no property collateral required, so financial constraints don't stand between a Bihar student and higher education.

What this scheme offers

Launched in October 2016 under the Mukhyamantri Nishchay Swayam Sahayata Bhatta Yojana (part of the state's "7 Nishchay" programme), this scheme provides a collateral-free education loan of up to ₹4 lakh for technical, polytechnic, or general higher-education courses — covering tuition fees, books, stationery, and even a laptop. As of the current 2026 guidelines, the interest rate is 0% for women, differently-abled, and transgender students, and 1% simple interest per year for male students (older sources citing a flat 4% rate reflect a previous structure — confirm the current rate on the official portal, since scheme terms have been revised). Repayment begins only after course completion, with a grace period of either 1 year post-graduation or 6 months after starting work, whichever comes first.
