File No. SS-DL-HLT-002 · Delhi (NCT) State Scheme · Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of NCT of Delhi

Ayushman Arogya Mandir (formerly Mohalla Clinic)

Free primary healthcare and diagnostic tests at neighbourhood-level centres across Delhi.

What this scheme offers

AAP's Mohalla Clinics were, for a decade, one of the most internationally recognised parts of Delhi's welfare system — free primary healthcare and basic diagnostics at neighbourhood level, praised by the WHO and UN for a cost-effective urban-health model, though also the subject of corruption allegations that led the Lieutenant Governor to order an inquiry into their functioning. After the BJP's 2025 election win, the government moved to convert or replace these clinics with 'Ayushman Arogya Mandir' centres, aligning Delhi's primary healthcare with the central Ayushman Bharat framework. The pace of genuine new construction versus simple rebranding of existing facilities has become a real political dispute — the opposition has specifically alleged that some claimed new centres are repainted Mohalla Clinics with new signage — so treat headline conversion numbers with some caution and confirm what's actually available at your nearest centre.
