What this scheme offers
Registration with Gujarat's construction workers' welfare board — funded through a cess collected on building projects statewide — gives masons, labourers, electricians and other construction trades access to ₹2 lakh accident insurance and a ₹1,000 monthly pension from age 60. A newer addition, the Shramik Basera portal, backed by ₹1,500 crore, lets registered workers apply for temporary housing near their work sites, addressing the reality that construction work often means moving between cities and living far from any settled home.
