What this scheme offers
A branded Acer or Lenovo tablet retails for ₹8,000-12,000 — real money for a family already stretching to cover college costs. Rather than a straight giveaway, Gujarat's NAMO E-Tablet Yojana sells the device to eligible students for a flat ₹1,000, with the state covering the rest of the cost, reaching roughly 20 lakh students. Pricing it rather than giving it away outright keeps the programme's cost more predictable while still putting the device within reach of families who'd otherwise have to skip it or buy a much cheaper, lower-quality alternative.
