What this scheme offers
Launched in the 2024-25 budget with an initial outlay of ₹1,250 crore, Namo Laxmi Yojana targets the exact stretch of schooling — Classes 9 through 12 — where girls from lower-income families are statistically most likely to drop out, whether for financial reasons, early marriage pressure, or simply the accumulated cost of four more years of school. Every girl in a government or government-aided school gets ₹10,000 a year in Classes 9-10, rising to ₹15,000 a year in Classes 11-12, for a total of ₹50,000 across the four years — paid monthly with bonus instalments tied to passing each board exam. Over 10 lakh girls benefit each year, and schools handle enrolment directly through the Child Tracking System, so there's no separate student-side application.
