What this scheme offers
Haryana's groundwater problem is real and well-documented — decades of paddy cultivation, a crop that demands enormous amounts of water, have pushed water tables in many districts to genuinely worrying depths. Mera Pani Meri Virasat ('my water, my heritage') tries to fix the underlying economic incentive rather than just asking farmers to conserve water out of civic duty: a per-acre cash bonus for switching from paddy to less water-intensive crops like pulses, oilseeds and cotton, making the environmentally responsible choice also the more profitable one. The 2026-27 budget raised this bonus by a further ₹2,000 per acre.
Who is eligible
- Farmer in Haryana switching from paddy to an approved alternative crop (pulses, oilseeds, cotton, and similar).
- Land records confirming the area under the alternative crop.
- Registered through the scheme's designated agricultural portal for the relevant season.

How to apply
- Register your crop-switch intention on the Meri Fasal Mera Byora portal or the scheme's designated agricultural portal before the sowing season deadline.
- Provide land records and details of the alternative crop being sown in place of paddy.
- A field verification may confirm the actual crop grown against what was declared.
- Once verified, the per-acre bonus is credited via DBT to your Aadhaar-linked bank account.
- Re-register each season if you continue growing the alternative crop, as the scheme operates on a seasonal basis.
