File No. CS-AGR-014 · Central Scheme · Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare

PM-KISAN — Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi

Direct income support of ₹6,000 per year, paid in three installments, to landholding farmer families across India.

What this scheme offers

PM-KISAN pays eligible farmer families ₹6,000 every year, split into three installments of ₹2,000 each, roughly every four months. The money goes directly into the farmer's bank account, so there is no paperwork at the point of payment once enrolment is complete.

Who is eligible

  • Farmer families that own cultivable agricultural land in their name, with valid land records.
  • Small and marginal farmers owning up to 2 hectares are the scheme's primary focus, though the base criterion is land ownership rather than a strict ceiling in every state.
  • Must be an Indian resident with a valid Aadhaar number linked to the PM-KISAN record.

Not eligible: institutional landholders, income-tax payers, and professionals such as doctors, chartered accountants and engineers, as well as serving or retired government employees above certain categories.
