Rajiv Gandhi Swarozgar Yojana (Himachal Self-Employment Subsidy)

Himachal's self-employment scheme gives a 25% investment subsidy (30% for SC/ST, 35% for women-led and divyang enterprises) on projects up to a ₹60 lakh ceiling, and 50% on e-taxis, e-buses and e-trucks, for applicants aged 23 to 50 after a July 2026 age increase.

What this scheme offers

The Rajiv Gandhi Swarozgar Yojana, rolled out in 2023, helps Himachal youth start their own enterprises. It gives an investment subsidy of 25% on plant, machinery and equipment up to a maximum investment ceiling of ₹60 lakh, raised to 30% for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes and 35% for women-led enterprises and divyangjan. It also gives a 50% subsidy on buying electric taxis, buses and trucks, and covers commercial solar projects up to one megawatt, dental clinics and fisheries with processing. Banks provide 90% of the project cost as a loan and the beneficiary brings 10%. In July 2026 the upper age limit was raised from 45 to 50, with the minimum staying at 23 and women getting five more years. A second phase offers solar start-ups to youth aged 21 to 45 with a 30% government equity share.

  • For the 50% e-taxi subsidy: the applicant must be at least 23 years old.
  • The beneficiary contributes 10% of the project cost and the bank lends 90%.
