What this scheme offers
The Integrated Social Security Scheme, launched by the Jammu and Kashmir government in 1995, is the UT's own pension programme for people with little means of support, funded by the administration on a 50:50 plan and non-plan basis. It has four components: old-age pension for men aged 60 and women aged 55 and above, a pension for widows, divorcees and women in distress above 40, a pension for persons with a disability of 40% or more, and a pension for transgender persons. Departmental pages show ₹1,000 a month, but in April 2025 the government announced an increase under both the NSAP and ISSS, with the central old-age pension going to ₹1,500 for ages 60 to 79 and ₹2,000 from 80, and later guides quoting ₹1,250 to ₹2,000 for ISSS depending on age. Pensioners move to the next bracket in the month they reach the age, with the higher payout from the next month.
