What this scheme offers
Much of Jharkhand's farmland depends on the monsoon arriving roughly on schedule, and a genuinely weak rainy season can turn into a real livelihood crisis for farming families within a single failed harvest. The Chief Minister Drought Relief Scheme is the state's response once a drought has actually been declared in a given area — financial assistance, livelihood support and basic resources for affected households, meant to bridge the gap until the next viable growing season rather than address long-term irrigation infrastructure.
Who is eligible
- Farming household in a district or block officially declared drought-affected by the Jharkhand government.
- Genuine crop/livelihood loss attributable to the drought.
- Meets the specific relief criteria set by the Department of Disaster Management for the declared event.
Documents required
- Aadhaar card
- Land records
- Bank account details (Aadhaar-linked)
- Proof of crop loss, where assessed by government survey
How to apply
- Check whether your area has been officially declared drought-affected through your local Block office or the Disaster Management Department.
- A government assessment (similar to crop damage surveys used for insurance claims) determines affected households and the extent of loss.
- Submit land records and identity documents if required as part of the relief distribution process.
- Approved relief is credited via DBT to affected households' bank accounts.
- Contact your Block Disaster Management office if your area is affected but hasn't been included in the official declaration.
