What this scheme offers
Farm work carries genuine physical risk — machinery, electrocution near pumps, animal attacks — separate from the financial risk of a bad harvest. Raitha Suraksha Yojana covers that specific risk: every registered farmer in Karnataka gets ₹5 lakh in accident insurance at no cost, with no premium to pay, giving families a safety net against the loss or disabling injury of the household's primary earner.
Who is eligible
- Registered farmer with agricultural landholding in Karnataka.
- Accident occurred during agricultural work or a related activity, per scheme rules.
- No premium payment required — coverage is free.
Documents required
- Aadhaar card
- Land records
- Death certificate or disability/medical certificate, when filing a claim
- FIR or accident report, where applicable
- Bank account details of the claimant/nominee
How to apply
- Ensure your farmer registration/land records are up to date with the Agriculture Department — this is usually how coverage is determined, without a separate enrolment step.
- In the event of an accident, report it to the local Patwari/Revenue office and, where relevant, the police.
- File a claim at the Taluk Agriculture office with land records, medical/death certificate and accident documentation.
- The claim is verified against the accident circumstances.
- On approval, compensation is credited to the claimant's or nominee's bank account.
