What this scheme offers
Much of Karnataka's farmland depends on rainfall that arrives on its own schedule, not the crop's. Krishi Bhagya addresses that mismatch directly: an 80-90% subsidy for farmers in rain-fed districts to build farm ponds that capture monsoon runoff (₹70,000-80,000), polyhouses for controlled, less water-dependent cultivation (up to ₹15 lakh/acre), and lift irrigation systems that move stored water to the field. The subsidy rate is deliberately high because the whole point is to make water-saving infrastructure something a smallholder can actually afford, not just a large farm.
Who is eligible
- Farmer with agricultural land in a rain-fed (dryland) area of Karnataka, as notified by the Agriculture Department.
- Willing to co-contribute the remaining 10-20% of the intervention cost.
- Valid land records for the plot where the intervention will be built.
