What this scheme offers
Vidyasiri is a food-and-accommodation allowance for post-matric students who study away from home and could not get a government or aided hostel seat. It pays ₹1,500 a month for ten months — ₹15,000 a year — straight into the student's bank account. It is run by the Backward Classes Welfare Department and is for OBC students only; SC and ST students get comparable support through their own departments, which is a frequent source of confusion. Applications are made once a year on the State Scholarship Portal, and the 2025 round was extended to 12 December, so windows can shift.
