What this scheme offers
Raitha Vidya Nidhi, launched in August 2021, gives children of Karnataka's registered farmers an annual scholarship from ₹2,500 to ₹11,000 once they move beyond Class 10. The amount rises with the level of the course and is slightly higher for girls: ₹2,500 for boys and ₹3,000 for girls in PUC, ITI or diploma; ₹5,000 and ₹5,500 for a degree; and ₹10,000 and ₹11,000 for postgraduate study, with professional courses in between. There is no income ceiling — the link is to the parent's status as a farmer, verified through the FRUITS ID — and the money goes straight to the student's account.
Who is eligible
- The student's parent must be a farmer registered on the FRUITS ID (Farmer Registration and Unified Beneficiary Information System) in Karnataka.
- The student is a permanent resident of Karnataka studying after Class 10 — PUC, ITI, diploma, degree, postgraduate or a professional course.
- Amount depends on the course and on gender: for example ₹2,500 (boys) / ₹3,000 (girls) for PUC, ITI and diploma; ₹5,000 / ₹5,500 for a degree; ₹10,000 / ₹11,000 for postgraduation.
- The student needs an Aadhaar-seeded bank account for the direct transfer.
